We strive to make Duqm a global model of modern, flexible, and efficient industrial operation – Eng Abdullah Al-Ajmi

Newly appointed CEO of Duqm Refinery Company, Kuwaiti Engineer Abdullah Al-Ajmi, affirmed that the refinery stands as one of the region’s most prominent strategic industrial projects, symbolizing a unique model of integration between Kuwait and the Sultanate of Oman.

Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Tuesday, Al-Ajmi said he is proud to assume leadership of the refinery, stating that his appointment reflects the company’s commitment to empowering leadership, advancing institutional integration, and maintaining operational excellence.

Al-Ajmi noted that the Duqm Refinery continues to position itself as a regional leader in refining, aligning with the energy strategies of both Kuwait and Oman.

He credited this progress to the foundational efforts of previous teams and pledged to enhance the company’s performance through agile practices, operational efficiency, and national talent development.

He emphasized the refinery’s internal culture of teamwork, innovation, and sustainability, aiming to deliver long-term value while staying committed to responsible and smart growth. “We strive to make Duqm a global model of modern, flexible, and efficient industrial operation,” he said.

With more than 37 years of experience in the energy sector, Al-Ajmi has held several high-level positions, contributing to strategic transformation and sustainable performance across institutions.

The Duqm Refinery is the largest joint investment between Kuwait and Oman, developed through a partnership between Kuwait Petroleum International and Oman’s OQ Group.

Located in the Wilayat of Duqm in southern Oman, the refinery represents a $9 billion investment, producing high-quality petroleum products for global markets.

The facility was officially inaugurated in February 2024, under the patronage of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman, marking a major milestone in Gulf industrial cooperation.
