Iran reopened parts of its airspace to foreign airlines today, though flight suspensions remain in effect across several regions, especially in the capital, Tehran.
The move comes on the fifth day of the ceasefire with Israel, following the unprecedented Israeli airstrike on Iran that led to a complete closure of Iranian airspace on June 13, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to Transport Ministry spokesman Majid Akhavan, speaking to the official IRNA news agency, the central and western regions of the country are now open to international flights.
However, domestic operations and flights to and from Tehran remain suspended, with both of the capital’s main airports still closed.
Flights had started to gradually resume on Wednesday, limited to eastern Iran, while other regions — including Tehran —continued to enforce the suspension.
Authorities have not yet announced a timeline for the full restoration of air travel across the country.
