Kuwait on high alert amid Israel-Iran conflict

Government mobilizes security, diplomacy, and crisis preparedness

As regional tensions intensify due to the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, the Kuwaiti government continues to operate at the highest levels of alert, proactively monitoring developments and preparing for any potential repercussions.

His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah chaired a critical meeting of the Supreme Petroleum Council, where members reviewed the latest regional and international political developments and their implications for global oil markets, reports Al-Rai daily.

On the security front, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef held a meeting with top security leaders, emphasizing the importance of heightened field readiness and integrated coordination across all security sectors.

His directives aim to bolster the nation’s ability to respond swiftly and effectively to any emerging threats, thereby maintaining national security and stability.

Meanwhile, Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi underscored the vital role of official media in crisis response.

He called on state media outlets to intensify their efforts in delivering fast, accurate, and trustworthy information, while combating misinformation and rumors. He stressed the importance of collaboration among media institutions to serve as a credible source that strengthens public awareness and social cohesion.

In the diplomatic arena, Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to de-escalation, urging Iran to return to the negotiating table and calling for an immediate ceasefire. As the current chair of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Kuwait initiated consultations with fellow GCC member states from the onset of the crisis. A virtual meeting among Gulf foreign ministers was convened to coordinate regional positions and responses.

Al-Yahya confirmed that diplomatic communications remain active with Gulf and international partners in pursuit of a political and peaceful resolution to the conflict.

On the domestic front, Kuwait is taking parallel steps to secure vital infrastructure. The Public Authority for Industry convened its emergency committee to assess preparedness across strategic sites, including factories in the Shuaiba Industrial Area, which store essential supplies such as food, water, and medicine. Acting Director General Jarallah Al-Dosari called for full readiness, the activation of emergency teams, and evacuation plans as precautionary measures.

In a similar move, Deputy Commander of the National Guard Lieutenant General Engineer Hashim Al-Rifai inspected the Supply and Transportation Branch to evaluate the strategic stockpile and assess the operational readiness of support units. He emphasized the importance of field preparedness and heightened vigilance under the current security conditions.

In addition, the Ministry of Social Affairs held a coordination meeting with the Federation of Charitable Societies and Endowments, where discussions focused on strengthening institutional preparedness in the humanitarian and charitable sectors to respond effectively to crises and emergencies.

Across multiple sectors — security, diplomacy, media, industry, and civil society—Kuwait continues its coordinated efforts to safeguard the nation and contribute to regional stability amid uncertain and rapidly evolving geopolitical circumstances.
