Marijuana farm busted inside a house in Sabah Al-Salem

The Ministry of Interior said personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department raided a house in Sabah Al-Salem acting on a tip-off from an unidentified source that marijuana was being grown inside posh house in the area.
According to the ministry, the operation followed intensive field investigations conducted by search and surveillance teams, followed by the tip-off and detected suspicious activity suggesting the presence of narcotic cultivation at the site, reports Al-Rai daily.
After monitoring the suspect’s movements, who is believed to be an expatriate, and confirming the illegal activity, legal procedures were completed, leading to a raid on the residence and the suspect’s arrest.
The operation resulted in the seizure of 27 marijuana seedlings, approximately one kilogram of processed marijuana, 50 grams of marijuana seeds, and two precision scales used for preparation and distribution.
The authorities said the suspect had set up a controlled environment equipped with specialized lighting and ventilation systems to accelerate the plants’ growth, with the intent to traffic and consume the narcotic substance.
The suspect has been referred to the competent authorities for legal action.
The General Department of Narcotics Control reaffirmed its commitment to tracking down drug traffickers and taking firm action against anyone who endangers public safety, urging citizens and residents to report any suspicious activity to help safeguard national security.
