Kuwait explores ways to deepen collaboration in the fields of digital economy

Kuwait’s Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment, Noura Al-Fassam, held an extraordinary meeting on Sunday with Dima Al-Yahya, Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), to explore ways to deepen collaboration in the fields of the digital economy, financial inclusion, and innovation.

In a statement, the Ministry of Finance confirmed that discussions focused on the DCO’s efforts to foster a favorable environment for digital economy investments and explored opportunities for joint initiatives to support emerging digital enterprises both in Kuwait and across the DCO’s member states, reports Al-Rai daily.

Minister Al-Fassam emphasized the alignment between Kuwait’s strategic priorities and the DCO’s objectives, highlighting Kuwait’s role as a founding member of the organization and its commitment to the “New Kuwait 2035” vision.

This vision prioritizes digital transformation, economic diversification, and the creation of new employment opportunities through innovation and public service digitization.

She reaffirmed Kuwait’s position as a regional center for digital investment and technological infrastructure development, stressing the significance of sustained collaboration with the DCO, especially in light of Kuwait’s current presidency of the organization.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to establish dedicated working groups tasked with advancing mutual goals in digital transformation, fintech innovation, and the growth of digital startups. These groups will help implement initiatives aligned with the DCO’s four-year strategy aimed at accelerating regional cooperation in the digital space.

The session was attended by senior officials from both the Ministry of Finance and the Digital Cooperation Organization, who reviewed the DCO’s long-term vision and its roadmap to enhance digital cooperation and investment throughout the region.
