Director General of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations Mrs K Nandini Singla has said that cultural relations between two friendly countries India and Kuwait have a long history of cultural, social and education exchanges.

This was stated by the ICCR Director Nandini Singla during a meeting with the Ambassador of Kuwait H E Meshal Mustafa AlShemali at her office in New Delhi. She called for strengthening and upgrading these cultural exchanges to a higher level.

During the meeting, discussion was held on various areas of cooperation, especially those related to cultural relations between the State of Kuwait and the Republic of India.

Ambassador AlShemali said both India and Kuwait derive their historically rooted ties from the distinguished relations that brought them together in various fields, especially the cultural and social fields, which would strengthen the ties between the people of two countries.
.
The meeting comes against the backdrop of the recent visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Kuwait late last year where the Cultural Exchange Programme (CEP) was renewed for the period 2025-2029 between the two countries.

This has set the stage to witness diverse cultural exchanges in the days to come, Alshemali pointed out.

His Excellency Alshemali said that first agreement in the field of cultural cooperation between the two countries was signed in 1970.

India and Kuwait have shared close relation since the last three hundreds years in terms of commerce and trade where Kuwaiti sea farers would travel to Indian ports to buy timber, spices and food grains in exchange of dates and pearls. Lot of cultural interactions began since then.
