Kuwait condemns Iranian attack on Al Udeid Base, affirms solidarity with Qatar
The State of Kuwait has issued a firm condemnation of the Iranian missile strike on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, denouncing it as a “flagrant violation” of Qatari sovereignty and international law.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attack—carried out by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps—as a “dangerous escalation” that poses a direct threat to regional peace and stability.
“This is a flagrant violation of Qatari sovereignty and airspace, as well as of international law and the UN Charter,” the ministry said in an official statement. “It constitutes a dangerous escalation that threatens peace, security, and stability in the region.”
Kuwait affirmed its full support for Qatar’s leadership, government, and people, backing all measures the Gulf nation may take to preserve its sovereignty, security, and stability, including its right to respond proportionally to the aggression, reports Al-Rai daily.
The statement also emphasized the deep and strategic relationship between the two nations, declaring that: “The security and stability of the sisterly State of Qatar is an integral part of Kuwait’s own security and stability.”
In a further show of support, Kuwait praised Qatar’s air defenses for successfully intercepting the Iranian missiles, which prevented casualties and major damage at the base, home to U.S. and coalition forces.
Kuwait reiterated its call for an immediate halt to military operations in the region and expressed concern over the widening scope of the conflict, which it attributed in part to the ongoing attacks by Israeli occupation forces. The Foreign Ministry called for intensified regional and international efforts to resolve the crisis through diplomatic channels, stressing the importance of restraint, dialogue, and collective security.
With tensions escalating across the Gulf and multiple countries taking emergency security precautions, Kuwait’s statement highlights both its commitment to regional stability and its unwavering support for Qatar in the face of direct threats.
