Ramadan to begin astronomically on March 1
The holy month will begin on Saturday and the crescent moon will be visible on the evening of Shaban 29, 1446 Hijri in the skies of Kuwait and most Arab countries, reveals the Al-Ajiri Scientific Center.

• According to the Al-Ajiri calendar, Sha’ban will begin astronomically on Friday, January 31, 2025, with the crescent visible on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 29, and remaining visible for 62 minutes on Thursday evening.
The Al-Ajiri Scientific Center announced that the holy month of Ramadan for the Hijri year 1446 is expected to begin astronomically on March 1, according to Al Rai newspaper.
The center added in a press statement that the first day of Ramadan will fall on Saturday. The crescent moon will be seen at dawn on Friday, February 28, 2025, corresponding to 29 Shaban, at 3:45 a.m., and will remain visible for 34 minutes on Friday evening.
The center noted that the crescent moon will be visible on the evening of 29 Shaban 1446 AH in the skies of Kuwait and most Arab countries.
It also mentioned that the Fajr prayer on the first day of Ramadan will be at 4:55 a.m., while the Maghrib prayer will be at 5:48 p.m.
Regarding the beginning of Sha’ban, the center stated that, according to the Al-Ajiri calendar, the first day of Sha’ban will astronomically fall on Friday, January 31, 2025.
The crescent will be seen on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 29, 2025, and will remain visible on Thursday evening for 62 minutes. It will be clearly and distinctly visible, to the extent that some may think it appeared the previous night. The center also noted that the shape of the crescent will be level with a slight deviation.
