Ministry all set to auction eleven parks to enhance state budget

Dr. Khalid Al-Ajami, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs, said the ministry has received initial approval from the Ministry of Finance and is now awaiting the Fatwa and Legislation Department's opinion before proceeding with the bids.

Dr. Khalid Al-Ajami, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs, pointed out that “the law governing cooperative associations is still under review and the ministry is working on improvements and amendments to address previous shortcomings, and all proposals are currently being studied to develop a comprehensive law.”

Al-Ajami said the ministry is reactivating the Department of Motherhood and Childhood and ensuring parks and child development centers fulfill their roles, with a plan of weekly events for children until March.

Dr. Khalid Al-Ajami, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs, announced that the ministry plans to enhance its financial revenues and contribute to strengthening the state budget by auctioning off eleven of its parks for investment. This move aims to boost revenue and activate their community role, according to Al Rai newspaper.

Al-Ajami added that the ministry has received initial approval from the Ministry of Finance and is now awaiting the Fatwa and Legislation Department’s opinion before proceeding with the bids.

On the sidelines of the International Children’s Day celebration organized by the Department of Women and Childhood at the Ministry, under the patronage and presence of Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs, in Khalidiya, Al-Ajami stated that this event reflects the ministry’s commitment to children, and these celebrations will continue.

He added, The events are organized by the ministry using its resources and facilities, including many parks, clubs, and community development centers. We strive to provide all the services children need. He emphasized that this celebration aligns with our ongoing focus on children in society.

Al-Ajami also pointed out that the law governing cooperative associations is still under review. The ministry is working on improvements and amendments to address previous shortcomings, and all proposals are currently being studied to develop a comprehensive law.

Regarding the ministry’s plan to promote nurseries, Al-Ajami said, “We have two departments—the Department of Private Nurseries and the Department of Motherhood and Childhood—both of which focus on child care. Each department operates independently based on its competencies. We are working to reactivate the role of the Department of Motherhood and Childhood in recent months, and we are also ensuring that parks and child development centers fulfill their role. We have an ongoing plan until the end of March, with many events aimed at children, which will be announced weekly.

Al-Ajami also stated, “The Ministry of Social Affairs has initiated auctions for all eleven of our parks. We have contacted the Ministry of Finance, which has given us initial approval, and we are now waiting for a letter from the Department of Fatwa and Legislation to support the ministry’s plan to auction these parks, with the aim of investing in them and generating financial income for the ministry.”

He continued, “Through this direction, the Ministry of Social Affairs will evolve from being an entity that only provides funds to one that grows its revenues. This is a historic shift in the ministry’s work, as we aim to strengthen this role and assist the state in revenue development, each within its capacity.” He stressed that “the Ministry of Social Affairs will soon transform into a ministry with financial revenues that contribute directly to the state budget.”
