His remarks were made during a statement to KUNA following an inspection tour of the Kuwait Ports Authority and Shuwaikh Port. The tour, led by the Authority’s Director General, Sheikh Khaled Al-Sabah, aimed to assess the progress of operations and the functioning of various departments within the port.
The governor highlighted the corporation’s role in driving economic progress, describing it as the safety valve and lifeline of the Kuwaiti economy, as most of Kuwait’s imports pass through it. He commended the efforts made to develop Shuwaikh Port and all Kuwaiti ports.
He urged the institution’s employees to contribute more towards achieving the necessary developmental goals in line with the “New Kuwait 2035” vision, and to work on enhancing electronic services and all facilities to achieve a future qualitative shift.
For his part, Sheikh Khaled Al-Sabah stated that the development of Shuwaikh Port’s berths is one of the Corporation’s most important projects under the development plan. He added that the project’s completion rate has reached 62% and is expected to be finished by the end of 2025.
He emphasized that the project will greatly diversify the types of ships received by the port year-round, which will positively impact the exchange of commercial goods and improve the port’s overall efficiency and effectiveness.
