Unions urge Prime Minister to reassess ‘third fingerprint’ system

Hussein Al-Azmi, President of the Union of Trade Unions of Workers in the Government Sector and the Syndicate of Workers in the Ministry of Health, stressed the third fingerprint system is a major cause of confusion among government agencies with specialized work, including medical, field, and technical sectors.

Hussein Al-Azmi stressed that the third fingerprint system will not contribute to advancing success or enhancing commitment to official working hours and appointments.

Al-Azmi pointed out that achieving successful outcomes and innovation at work comes only through employees’ dedication, outstanding performance, and unlimited effort, rather than through administrative and financial restrictions.

Hussein Al-Azmi, President of the Union of Trade Unions of Workers in the Government Sector and the Syndicate of Workers in the Ministry of Health, has urged His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister, to reconsider the Civil Service Bureau’s Circular No. 9 of 2024. This circular mandates the use of a flexible fingerprint system for tracking attendance during official working hours, in light of the various issues arising from the implementation of the third fingerprint system, according to Al Jarida newspaper.

Al-Azmi pointed out that government agencies, including ministries, institutions, and bodies in successful countries, focus on achieving excellence and creativity. They aim to boost productivity, improve performance, develop labor systems, encourage national competencies to gain expertise and skills, build trust between supervisors and employees, foster job competition, and create a safe work environment.

Al-Azmi stressed that the third fingerprint system will not contribute to advancing success or enhancing commitment to official working hours and appointments. Instead, it is a major cause of confusion among government agencies with specialized work, including medical, field, and technical sectors.

He pointed out that achieving successful outcomes and innovation at work comes only through employees’ dedication, outstanding performance, and unlimited effort, rather than through administrative and financial restrictions that disrupt job stability.
