Kuwait plans to reach full employment by September

The government has made notable strides in filling leadership vacancies across numerous ministries and establishing boards of directors for various bodies and institutions.

  • The Economic Affairs and Legal Affairs Committees will meet today to address recommendations on budget cuts, agency overlaps, and administrative streamlining.

  • The retirement for leaders or employees with thirty years of service and at least 55 years old will not be mandatory. Ministers will have the option to retire those who have not fulfilled their duties.

A government source disclosed that the Economic Affairs and Legal Affairs Committees of the Cabinet will hold their first joint meeting today to discuss and review the procedures for canceling and merging certain government agencies, according to Al Qabas newspaper.

The source told the newspaper that this meeting follows the Cabinet’s recommendations to reduce budget expenditures, resolve overlaps in responsibilities between government agencies, and address the bloated administrative structure of the state.

Additionally, the source confirmed that the government has made significant progress in filling leadership vacancies across many ministries and forming boards of directors for various bodies and institutions. The names of nominated leaders are being reviewed and approved, with plans to submit them to the Council of Ministers for final approval.

The source revealed that a large number of leaders will be appointed within a month to fill vacancies in government agencies.

Regarding employment payments, the source highlighted the government’s commitment to employing all citizens nominated for government positions in the coming month of September, stating that “Kuwait will be without any unemployed person.” In addition to government employment, the source emphasized the private sector’s responsibility to employ citizens.

Regarding the referral of leaders or employees who have served for thirty years since their appointment “and are at least 55 years old” to retirement, the source confirmed that there is no intention to mandate retirement for employees and leaders. The decision will be optional for the ministers within their departments, and “those who have not accomplished their duties may be referred to retirement.”
