39 industrial plots shut over unpaid rent

The Public Authority for Industry warned the beneficiaries to settle their dues within one month or face service suspension and legal action.

  • The closed industrial plots were located in the industrial areas of Amghara, East Ahmadi, Abdullah Port, Al-Rai, Al-Mirqab, and Shuwaikh, the Public Authority for Industry said.

The Public Authority for Industry has decided to close 39 industrial plots due to unpaid rent until all financial obligations are settled, according to Al Jarida newspaper.

The authority stated in Resolution No. 61 of 2024 that the closure of 39 industrial plots resulted from a failure to pay the required rental fees. Beneficiaries were warned to settle their financial dues within one month of the warning. If payment was not made, all services would be suspended and legal actions would be taken in accordance with Industry Law No. 56/1996 and its amendments.

Article Two of the decision specified that if the debt remained unpaid within a month of closure, a more severe penalty would be imposed.

The closed plots were located in the industrial areas of Amghara, East Ahmadi, Abdullah Port, Al-Rai, Al-Mirqab, and Shuwaikh.

The authority’s Financial Affairs Department issued a memorandum requesting the closure of plots with overdue payments as part of the authority’s debt collection mechanism, following a recommendation from the Permanent Committee for Industrial Violations during its meeting last July.

The decision, signed by the acting Director General of the authority, was made after reviewing Law No. 56 of 1996 concerning the Industry Law and its executive regulations, and Law No. 22 of 2009 regarding the Unified Industrial Regulation Law for Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
