Turkey has set Saturday to open the new Cukurova International Airport in the southern city of Mersin.
Turkish Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Oraloglu said in a press statement on Thursday that the 58th civilian airport in Turkey will serve 5 million citizens due to its proximity to the cities of Mersin, Adana, Osmaniye and Nigde.
He added that the international airport’s capacity is 8 million passengers annually and its hall area is 110 thousand square meters, explaining that the length of the airport’s main runway is 3,500 meters and its width is 60 meters, pointing out that the largest aircraft can land on the airport’s main runway.
