Processing of documents for Semi skilled, skilled and professional Filipino workers to start on Saturday

The MIgrant Workers Office (MWO) of the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait held a meeting with recruitment agency representatives in Kuwait to provide updated information and directives as to the processing of job orders for Filipino skilled, semi-skilled and professional workers. The MWO announced the reopening of processing of documents on Saturday.

The meeting highlighted on some important concerns such as application for clearance to process job orders and schedules for the receiving and releasing of approved documents. The meeting also highlighted on disciplinary actions to be taken against serious offenses committed by employers and principals. Disciplinary actions include disqualification and de-listing for the roster list.

These offenses include:

  • Unauthorized / Unjustified collection of fees or illegal exaction from an OFW through whatever means including salary deduction
  • Passing to the workers or deducting from OFW’s salary the payment of the cost of the premiums as provided under the compulsory workers’ insurance coverage
  • Gross negligence that can lead to serious injury, illness, disability or death of the OFW
  • Grave misconduct against the OFW
  • Commission of any act of the Principal, employer or any member of the family/ household against the OFW tantamount or mounts to felony, crime of offense punishable by the laws of the Philippines or by the host country.
  • Unlawful transfer of the OFW to another principal / employer or job site /workplace
  • Unreasonable or unjustifiable or refusal in securing exit visa for an OFW or failure to timely repatriate the OFW.
  • No payment or underpayment of wages and benefits
  • Substitution of alteration of the duly processed contract to the prejudice of the OFW
  • Gross violations of other laws, rules and regulations, pertaining to overseas employment.

Recruitment agency representatives have been receiving requests from local companies to accommodate and process their job orders.
