Surprise prison sweep by top officials uncovers hidden contraband

Inspection teams seized mobile phones, charging cables, routers for strengthening the network, narcotic materials and pills, as well as various white weapons.

As part of the new government’s steps to enforce discipline and control violations in an effort to correct the course and address distortions accumulated over many years, the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, supervised a surprise security tour of the prison complex. He was accompanied by the Assistant Undersecretary of the Interior for Private Security Affairs, Major General Abdullah Saffah.

During the tour, a range of violations and prohibited items were discovered, professionally hidden within the walls of the Central Prison and its wards.

Inspection teams of the Special Security Forces, in cooperation with the Prison Security Administration, seized numerous contraband items inside the wards, including mobile phones, charging cables, routers for strengthening the network, narcotic materials and pills, as well as various white weapons.

The security personnel found the contraband hidden in secret and elaborate ways inside the cells. The seized items were referred to the competent authorities, and the necessary legal measures are being taken against the prisoners found in possession of these contraband items.
