. . . guides Indian businesses on Kuwait's evolving commercial laws, promotes regulatory awareness among Indian entrepreneurs and professionals

The Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC), Kuwait, organized an informative knowledge-sharing session on “Understanding Kuwait’s Anti-Concealment Law and Article 18 of the KPC Law” on November 1 at The St. Regis Kuwait City, bringing together business owners, professionals and IBPC members to examine the implications of Kuwait’s evolving legal and regulatory framework for businesses.

The session focused on raising awareness of the legal obligations facing businesses and the importance of ensuring that commercial arrangements and operating structures comply with Kuwait’s regulatory requirements.

Welcoming the participants, IBPC Chairman Gaurav Oberoi stressed the need for the business community to remain informed about changes in Kuwait’s commercial laws and regulations. He said timely awareness of legal developments was essential for businesses to ensure compliance, make informed decisions, anticipate regulatory requirements and plan their operations effectively.

He emphasized that understanding the laws governing business activities was a responsibility shared by every entrepreneur and professional. Keeping abreast of regulatory changes, he noted, helps minimize legal and operational risks, avoid unnecessary complications and ensure business continuity.

Proactive compliance also strengthens transparency, builds investor confidence and supports sustainable business growth. The main presentation was delivered by Aaron Dikos, Partner at Al Tamimi & Company, Kuwait, who provided an overview of Kuwait’s Anti-Concealment Law and Article 18 of the KPC Law.

He discussed the relevant legal provisions, their potential implications for existing business structures and the practical considerations companies should take into account when reviewing their commercial arrangements.

Adding a business and investment perspective, CA Ketan Puri discussed the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA), the investment frameworks available in Kuwait and considerations for businesses exploring appropriate structures and future investment opportunities.

Both presentations highlighted the importance of distinguishing between established business practices and evolving legal requirements. Participants were encouraged to periodically review their business arrangements and seek professional advice to ensure that their operations remain aligned with applicable laws and regulations.

An interactive question-and-answer session formed a key part of the program, allowing participants to raise practical concerns relating to legal compliance, business structures and regulatory obligations. Both speakers addressed the questions in detail, providing clarifications and guidance on issues of relevance to the business community.

The program was moderated by IBPC Secretary Sunit Arora, who facilitated the discussions and interaction between the speakers and participants.

As a gesture of appreciation, IBPC Chairman Gaurav Oberoi presented a memento to Aaron Dikos, while Vice Chairman Suresh K. P. honored CA Ketan Puri. IBPC Treasurer Karthik Ramadoss coordinated the guest arrangements, and Joint Secretary Krishen Suryakanth delivered the vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to the speakers, members and participants for their contributions to the successful program.

The evening concluded with networking over refreshments, providing business owners and professionals an opportunity to exchange views, share experiences and strengthen professional connections.

Through initiatives of this kind, IBPC Kuwait continues to promote greater legal and regulatory awareness within the Indian business and professional community.

By facilitating access to expert knowledge and practical guidance, the Council aims to encourage responsible business practices, strengthen compliance and support a transparent and sustainable business environment, while contributing to stronger commercial and economic ties between India and Kuwait.
