US sanctions two individuals, entity over Iran MANPADS procurement

The US Department of State announced early Thursday that it was imposing sanctions on two individuals and one entity based in Belarus, Russia and Nigeria, respectively, for their involvement in the Iranian regime’s efforts to procure man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS).
In a statement, the department said that, under Operation Economic Outcast, the latest measures were part of a series of US actions targeting Iran’s military procurement networks involved in acquiring MANPADS. The sanctions follow previous designations announced on May 8, June 10 and July 15, 2026.
The department said each round of sanctions makes it more difficult and costly for Tehran to arm itself and reinforces the UN restrictions restored in September 2025.
It added that Iran’s procurement efforts threaten US national security and stressed that Washington would take all necessary measures to hold the Iranian regime accountable.
The United States would continue working with its partners to implement the restored UN measures and prevent the flow of weapons that threaten US forces and regional security, the statement said. It warned that anyone helping the Iranian regime build its military arsenal would be held accountable.
