Kuwait sets December oil output target at 2.676 million bpd
OPEC+ holds December oil output steady amid market uncertainty

The seven countries participating in the voluntary production adjustment agreement within the OPEC+ alliance have agreed to maintain their targeted oil production levels for December 2026 at the levels set for September, Oil Minister Tariq Al-Roumi announced on Sunday.
Under the decision, Kuwait’s targeted production will remain at 2.676 million barrels per day in December, Al-Roumi said in a statement issued by the Ministry of Oil.
He said the meeting was part of the participating countries’ regular review of developments in the global oil market, including supply and demand trends and related economic indicators. The assessment is intended to help anticipate market conditions and requirements in the coming period.
Al-Roumi stressed the importance of safeguarding the security and sustainability of energy supplies and ensuring the safe and uninterrupted movement of oil tankers through strategic waterways, noting that these factors support stability in global markets.
He said the current market environment requires producing countries to remain flexible in responding to changing conditions. He added that they have the ability to adjust production levels in line with market developments and the need to maintain a balance between supply and demand.
Kuwait reaffirmed its commitment to the Declaration of Cooperation and collective action under the OPEC+ alliance, emphasizing that continued coordination among participating countries strengthens the effectiveness of joint decisions and supports long-term stability in the global oil market.
The Kuwaiti delegation attending the meeting included Kuwait’s Governor to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Mohammed Al-Shatti, and Kuwait’s National Representative to OPEC, Sheikh Abdullah Sabah Salem Al-Hamoud Al-Sabah.
The seven countries — Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria and Oman — confirmed their shared commitment to stability in global oil markets and a balanced relationship between supply and demand during the meeting, held earlier on Sunday via video conference.
