933,000 Patients visited diabetes clinics in 2022, says Health Ministry
A recent report by the Ministry of Health revealed that Kuwait’s 105 diabetes clinics recorded 933,000 visits in 2022, averaging 3,871 visits daily.
The report indicated that Kuwaiti patients accounted for 46% of the total visits to diabetes clinics in 2022.
The Farwaniya Health District recorded the highest share of visitors at 25.1%, while Mubarak Al-Kabeer District had the lowest at 10.4%.
The report highlighted that the Genetic Diseases Center recorded 9,851 visits in 2022, with Kuwaitis making up 74% of the total. Among these, 52.6% were males and 47.4% were females.
Significantly, the report also mentioned that the Islamic Medicine Center saw 5,223 patient visits in 2022, with Kuwaitis making up 70.9% of the total.
Notably, female visits from Kuwaitis were about 1.6 times higher than male visits. The most common cases treated at the center included high blood lipids (86%), diabetes (6%), and rheumatism (2%).
What’s more is that the report stated that the Ibn Sina Hospital ranked first among specialized hospitals for outpatient visits, with a total of 190,734 visits.
Whereas the Al-Razi Hospital, had the highest number of emergency visits, totaling 167,300. Additionally, Ibn Sina Hospital employed the largest number of staff, with 1,942 workers.
The report also confirmed that the Maternity Hospital recorded the highest number of discharges, with a total of 16,275 discharges.
Meanwhile, the Psychiatric Hospital had the largest number of beds among specialized hospitals, with 627 beds.
