25th Anniversary of Japanese Society’s Beach Cleaning Campaign “Operation Turtle”

The Embassy of Japan in Kuwait is delighted to announce that the Japanese Society in Kuwait is organizing its annual beach cleanup campaign “Operation Turtle” on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at the beach near Cheesecake Factory restaurant, Gulf Road close to Kuwait Towers.

This campaign was launched in the year 2000 with the goal of restoring the environment of the Kuwaiti beach, so that sea turtles can come back, and enhancing people’s awareness of the importance of environment protection.
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the “Operation Turtle”, the Scientific Center in Kuwait will take part by releasing rescued turtles.

This campaign is supported by the Embassy of Japan in the State of Kuwait, Environment Public Authority (EPA), Kuwait Environment Protection Society (KEPS), The Scientific Center in Kuwait (TSCK), Kuwait Boy Scout Association (KBSA) and Kuwait Oil Company (KOC). We also value the voluntary participation by the UN-Habitat Kuwait, Kuwait Dive Team as well as Arabica Coffee.

The campaign is open to the public; the Japanese Society welcomes all interested participants. All media representatives are also welcome to attend and cover the event.
