US Energy Secretary Chris Wright said on Saturday in a post on his X platform that the US oil and gas sector had raised production to unprecedented record levels, making the United States the world’s largest producer of oil and natural gas.
He added that President Donald Trump’s agenda would build on this success to boost the economy and reduce costs. The statements come as the United States intensifies efforts to secure safe passage for shipping through the Strait of Hormuz to ensure the continued flow of energy supplies to global markets.
The US Energy Secretary said last Monday that he would speak with US refiners about ways to increase fuel production in an effort to reduce gasoline prices, which remain high following the US-Israeli war on Iran.
