US President Donald Trump said early Monday that his country’s navy would impose a blockade on Iran to prevent the country from exporting oil, adding that the step will be extremely effective.
In remarks to reporters after arriving in Washington coming from Miami, Trump noted that at 10:00 (the US eastern time), GMT: 14:00 pm, a blockade will be imposed on Iran.
“Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the Finest in the World, will begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz,” he noted.
Trump went to say that Iranians promised to open the Strait of Hormuz, but they lied, noting that Iran at a bad and difficult situation, describing the Iranians as ‘desperate.’
He reiterated that the US will not allow Iran to own nuclear weapons.
Meanwhile, the CENTCOM announced late Sunday imposing a comprehensive blockade on Iran’s maritime ports as of Monday, in implementation of Trump’s announcement in this regard.
“The blockade will be enforced impartially against vessels of all nations entering or departing Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports on the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman,” US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a post on X on Sunday.
In a news statement, the CENTCOM said it would start implementing the siege on all maritime movement – entering or exiting the ports at 14:00 p.m. GMT.
The decision will be applied to the ships of all countries entering the ports and the coastal areas of Iran or departing them, including the ones located on the Arabian Gulf and the Guld of Oman, it noted.
