US President Donald Trump on Tuesday suspended the “Project Freedom” aimed at freeing stranded ships in the Strait of Hormuz, to see if a final agreement can be reached with Iran.
“Project Freedom (The Movement of Ships through the Strait of Hormuz) will be paused for a short period of time to see whether or not the Agreement can be finalized and signed,” Trump said on Truth Social.
He said that the move was based on the request of Pakistan and other countries, adding that “Great Progress has been made toward a Complete and Final Agreement with Representatives of Iran”.
However, the US president stressed that the blockade would remain in full force and effect.
