. . . found guilty of tampering with electricity and water meter readings

The Criminal Court has sentenced three Egyptians to seven years imprisonment each with hard labor for forging official documents and tampering with electricity and water billing records.
According to the Public Prosecution, the defendants illicitly hacked into and altered electricity meters, resulting in the cancellation of bills owed by a businessman and two Kuwaiti men.
In return for their services, the three men were reportedly paid large sums of money in the form of bribes.
The charges include document forgery, accepting bribes, embezzling public funds, and failing to carry out official duties. The court found them guilty of manipulating public utilities and committing serious financial crimes that compromised public trust.
