Thailand’s Ambassador to Kuwait Ekapol Poolpipat has commended Kuwait’s leading humanitarian role and continued support for international forums and organizations to cement peace in the world.

The ambassador made the statement on Tuesday while delivering a speech during a ceremony held by Thailand’s Embassy on his country’s National Day that featured Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for European Affairs Ambassador Sadiq Marafi, and a number of heads of diplomatic missions, and international organizations in Kuwait.

Ambassador Poolpipat also lauded Kuwait’s great role in backing vulnerable nations, referring to its vital role in international and regional organizations and arenas, out of “its balanced foreign policy”.

He further praised Kuwait’s role in the Asia Cooperation Dialogue, welcoming Kuwait’s joining of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) in September, 2023.

He affirmed his country’s support to help Kuwait be a partner at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), expressing keenness on developing joint relations.

The ambassador commended high-level visits between the two sides, saying he looks forward to holding the first joint consultative meetings on the Foreign Ministries level in Thailand soon.

Kuwait and Thailand have deep-rooted relations in education and tourism fields, he said, noting that Kuwait receives, through its academic scholarships, hundreds of Thai students.

The ambassador revealed that Thailand is one of the main destinations for Kuwaitis as about 79,000 Kuwaiti tourists visited Thailand last year, and enjoyed Thai culture, amazing atmosphere and food. On December 5, Thailand marks its National Day, Father’s Day, which coincides with the birth of the ninth King of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej, who died in 2016.
