Student elections across Kuwaiti and global universities suspended
Hiba Al-Shati, Secretary-General of the Council of Public Universities, stated said the suspension of student election activities results from a deviation from the primary objectives of these union activities.

The Council of Public Universities has approved a memorandum suspending student election activities at all levels in Kuwaiti and international universities, colleges, and other educational institutions, according to Al Qabas newspaper.
Hiba Al-Shati, Secretary-General of the Council of Public Universities, stated after a council meeting that the suspension of student election activities results from a deviation from the primary objectives of these union activities. This reflects concerns that the student electoral process no longer serves students’ public interests or promotes the democratic values it should represent.
Al-Shati noted that the council reviewed and approved the agenda items and decisions of the Council of Public Universities.
She also explained that the Council of Public Universities reaffirmed its support for scientific, sports, social, and cultural student activities across all higher education institutions. These activities play a crucial role in developing students’ skills, enhancing their academic performance, and fostering their personal and creative growth, ultimately contributing to the development and service of their country.
