Spain produce a commanding display to book their place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 16 with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Austria. After dominating the first half, Mikel Oyarzabal broke the deadlock in the 36th minute before Pedro Porro doubled Spain’s advantage shortly after the hour mark.
Oyarzabal then wrapped up the victory with his second goal of the afternoon in the 89th minute, capping an outstanding individual performance. Austria battled hard and enjoyed a few promising moments, but they were unable to seriously trouble Spain, who controlled possession, created the better chances and looked comfortable throughout.
It is an emphatic statement from La Roja, who advance to the last 16 in style after a dominant all-round performance. They will face the winner of Portugal vs Croatia tie in the Round of 16.
