Social Affairs Ministry orders coops to adhere to salary scales and benefit limits
The Ministry of Social Affairs has issued a directive banning cooperative societies from paying salaries, allowances, benefits, or bonuses that go beyond the financial limits set in official ministerial decrees.
The circular, issued by the Financial and Administrative Affairs and Cooperative Affairs Sector, reinforces compliance with the official organizational structure, particularly the minimum and maximum salary scales and all associated financial entitlements for designated positions.
The move forms part of the Ministry’s implementation of the Cooperative Law and its executive regulations. It is aimed at strengthening oversight of financial and administrative practices within cooperative societies, ensuring standardized job entitlements and promoting fairness among employees across the sector, reports Al-Anba daily.
The directive clearly states that no financial benefits, including salaries and bonuses, may exceed the limits established in the relevant decrees. It adds that strict adherence to these rules is essential to rationalize expenditure, safeguard cooperative funds, and maintain integrity in financial and administrative operations.
The Ministry further held boards of directors and executive management in cooperative societies fully accountable for compliance, stressing the need to take all necessary measures to prevent any violations that could lead to legal or regulatory action.
The statement also highlighted that this step is part of broader efforts by Ministry of Social Affairs to enhance governance, improve transparency, unify financial policies, and support long-term financial sustainability in the cooperative sector, while reinforcing principles of fairness and efficiency in human resource management.
