Six key infrastructure projects underway in Southern region
The Public Corporation for Housing Welfare pioneers progress in Wafra expansion and Sabah Al-Ahmad projects.

The completion rate of the project to supply, install, and implement a main 132/11 kV station in the industrial suburb of the Sabah Al-Ahmad City project has reached 84.64 percent, with work expected to be completed by the end of next September.
The Public Corporation for Housing Welfare announced that it is working on completing the remaining six infrastructure and major service projects in the southern regions of the country.
The corporation stated that the projects include the Wafra expansion areas, Sabah Al-Ahmad City, and South Sabah Al-Ahmad, and noted significant progress in their implementation up until the end of last April.
The corporation added, “The completion rate of the project to supply, install, and implement a main 132/11 kV station in the industrial suburb of the Sabah Al-Ahmad City project has reached 84.64 percent,” with work expected to be completed by the end of next September.
It continued: “Regarding the project of supplying, extending, and maintaining 132 kV underground cables to feed several main transformer stations with a voltage of 132/11 kV in the industrial suburb of the Sabah Al-Ahmad Residential City project, the corporation indicated that the completion rate has reached 84.08 percent.”
The corporation highlighted that the completion and construction rate of road and infrastructure development, irrigation tank works, and electricity substations for the service axis of the Sabah Al-Ahmad City project reached 6.51 percent by the end of last April and it is expected to be completed by October 2025.
Wafra expansion project
The corporation indicated that it is implementing several contracts in the Wafra expansion project, with the completion and construction of the asphalt layer and related items for plots 2, 3 and 4 reaching 4.35 percent by the end of last month.
It added “the completion rate for the construction and completion of public buildings, roads, and infrastructure networks has reached 72.06 percent. Efforts are underway to accelerate the pace of work for timely completion according to the schedule.
South Sabah Al-Ahmad City project
The corporation announced the progress of work in the contract for the construction and completion of main road works, major infrastructure services networks, and rainwater tanks in the South Sabah Al Ahmad City project. The completion rate reached 12.56 percent by the end of last month, showing an advancement of 7.16 percent over the schedule.
It explained that the completion rate of the rainwater collection tanks in the project has reached 58.9 percent. Additionally, work has commenced on digging and filling roads, scraping them, treating the soil, and extending pipes, rainwater sewers, and sewage manholes.
