SIF-Kuwait hosts annual science gala 2025 with ISRO’s ex-chairman

The Science International Forum (SIF) Kuwait successfully hosted its Annual Science Gala-2025 on April 11 at the renowned Kuwait College of Science and Technology Auditorium on Doha Road.
The event gathered distinguished personalities, educators, students, and science enthusiasts for an inspiring evening that celebrated innovation and the pursuit of scientific discovery.
The program kicked off with a captivating welcome speech delivered by “Vikrant,” a humanoid robot, marking the first time such a technological introduction was made at the event. This futuristic gesture sparked immense curiosity among the audience, setting the stage for an evening focused on science and forward-thinking exploration.
Mr. Sohen Soman, President of SIF-Kuwait, delivered the opening address, highlighting the forum’s commitment to nurturing a scientific temper among students across the region. The event was further elevated by the keynote address of Dr. S. Somanath, Former Chairman of ISRO, who spoke passionately about India’s remarkable progress in space exploration and its ambitious vision for the future. His words were a source of inspiration for the young audience, as he encouraged them to dream big and contribute to the global scientific community. The keynote address was followed by an interactive Q&A session, where students eagerly posed questions, leading to a thrilling and thought-provoking exchange that ignited young minds with the possibilities of space science and innovation.
Shri Sanjay K. Muluka, Chargé d’affaires at the Indian Embassy in Kuwait, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and commended SIF’s efforts in promoting scientific culture among the Indian student community in Kuwait. He also emphasized the role of such platforms in strengthening the cultural and educational ties between India and Kuwait.
Sri Praveen Ramdas, Joint Organising Secretary of Vijnana Bharati, addressed the gathering with a heartfelt message from Vibha. He stressed the importance of using science as a tool for sustainable development and national growth to build a progressive society.
Adding to the spirit of the evening, Mr. Sandeep Nair, CEO of Mee-tech, delivered a special message emphasizing the importance of integrating Artificial Intelligence and Robotics into school curricula to prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of the future.
The event also featured a patriotic dance performance by students of Upasana School of Arts, adding a cultural touch to the scientific celebration. One of the major highlights of the gala was the felicitation ceremony honoring the winners and outstanding performers of the Sastra Pratibha Contest, Sci-Flix Science Short Film Competition, and National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC). Their achievements were celebrated with much enthusiasm and applause.
The coveted Acharya J.C. Bose Sastra Puraskar Trophy for the Best Performing School was awarded to FahaheelAl Watanieh Indian Private School (DPS). The award was received by the school’s Principal, Mr. Ravi Ayyanoli, along with the dedicated team of teachers and students.
The audience was also treated to a screening of the winning entries of the Sci-Flix Science Short Film Competition, which showcased creative and impactful storytelling in science.
Now in its 11th edition, the Annual Science Gala continues to be a much-anticipated event, providing students in Kuwait with a platform to interact with pioneers in science and technology, while also celebrating their own scientific accomplishments.
