Severe storms sweep across southern and eastern U.S. causing widespread damage

Six people were killed in these severe storms that caused damage across the U.S., with hurricane warnings, snowstorms, and wildfires affecting multiple states, including California.

Severe storms tore through Mississippi, claiming three lives, and wreaked havoc in Oklahoma, where roofs were torn off buildings. As the storm system moved east, it left destruction in its wake, with power outages and widespread damage.

Meteorologists issued tornado warnings along the East Coast as snowstorms battered the Midwest and dry winds fueled wildfires in Texas, adding to the chaos caused by the ongoing severe weather system.

Meanwhile, meteorologists are warning that a storm moving in from the Pacific Ocean will bring heavy rain and snow to California and other parts of the West through Friday, intensifying the region’s weather conditions.

The Governor of California, Gavin Newsom has warned that the storm could trigger new debris flows in areas already scarred by recent wildfires, adding more danger.

Moreover, warnings about the hurricane have been issued for North and South Carolina, Florida, and Virginia as a powerful storm intensifies.

The US National Weather Service confirmed that an EF1 tornado hit Unionville in Union County, North Carolina, with winds reaching 145 km/h. The tornado caused significant material damage and power outages but there were no injuries.
