SEC focuses on advancing country’s shift toward sustainable, secure energy systems

Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizeem has emphasized on the critical need for integration and coordination among all concerned government institutions to ensure the successful implementation of Kuwait’s energy transition strategies.

His remarks came while chairing a meeting of the Supreme Energy Committee (SEC), focused on advancing the country’s shift toward sustainable and secure energy systems, reports Al-Rai daily.

The meeting was dedicated to reviewing recent progress in national energy transformation efforts, aligning with global trends and Kuwait’s long-term vision for sustainability and energy security.

One of the key highlights was the presentation of the ‘White Paper for Kuwait’s Energy Transition’ by Engineer Dina Al-Naqeeb, Director of the Research and Technology Activation Department at the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS).

The paper outlines major national initiatives aimed at facilitating the energy transition, maximizing economic benefits, and supporting the country’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.

In addition, Sahar Al-Awadhi, Director of Strategic Planning at the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), presented the energy transition strategy for Kuwait’s oil sector, which seeks to reinforce the country’s position in the global renewable energy landscape
