Salwa station back in action, sub-feeders restored successively confirms “Electricity Ministry”
The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy announced that the main transformer station, “Salwa D” has been returned back to service, and the sub-feeders are being restored successively in preparation for the full restoration of electricity.
It was previously reported by The Ministry that a limited fire broke out in one of the main feeders at the “Salwa D” main transformer station this afternoon, which led to the complete disconnection of the station and a power outage in limited parts of the Salwa and Al-Bidda areas.
Furthermore, the Ministry explained that the amount of load-loss was 20 megawatts, noting that the firefighting teams and emergency teams affiliated with the Ministry, immediately headed to the location after the fire broke out, where necessary action was taken and the fire was extinguished exactly at 12:50 pm.
The Ministry categorically indicated that the Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Dr. Mahmoud Bushehri, along with a number of Ministry leaders were present immediately after the report was received; as a responsible measure meant to follow up on the progress of work.
As an assurance for quicker restoration and concrete action, the Ministry confirmed that work is underway to restore the station to service in preparation for the full restoration of electricity.
On a safer note, it was indicated that the fire did not result in any human casualties, and was limited to some material losses, and the station is being inspected to determine the causes that led to the fire.
