Qatar PM says freedom of navigation is ‘non-negotiable’

. . . warns against Hormuz closure

Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdulrahman affirmed that freedom of navigation is unnegotiable, noting that closing the Strait of Hormuz will only worsen the crisis.

The statement came during a phone call with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi on Saturday, where they discussed the current diplomatic efforts to end the war, according to Qatar’s Foreign Ministry.

Sheikh Mohammad renewed Qatar’s support to ongoing efforts to resolve the crisis, noting the importance of committing to diplomatic solutions by the clashing parties to achieve peace and stability in the region.
