Tajik Ambassador bids emotional farewell to Kuwait after 13 years of distinguished diplomatic service

In an emotional farewell marked by warmth, gratitude, and deep reflection, His Excellency Ambassador Zubaydullo Zubaydov, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the State of Kuwait and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, officially concluded his diplomatic mission after thirteen remarkable years of service in Kuwait.

A reception ceremony held on May 20 brought together senior Kuwaiti officials, members of the diplomatic corps, dignitaries, and invited guests, all gathered to honor a diplomat whose long tenure was defined by dedication, friendship, and unwavering commitment to strengthening bilateral and international diplomatic ties.

Delivering heartfelt farewell remarks, Ambassador Zubaydov spoke with visible emotion as he reflected on his years in Kuwait, describing the country not merely as a place of diplomatic assignment, but as a cherished second home that had become deeply embedded in his heart.

“It is an honor to conclude a professional journey that has extended over thirteen years in this beloved country,” he said. “Kuwait will forever remain engraved in my heart and conscience.”

His words painted a portrait of a relationship that transcended official duties. Speaking with sincerity, the Ambassador described Kuwait as a nation that embraced him with kindness, generosity, and humanity from the very beginning of his mission.

“Kuwait is not simply a country where I served it is my second homeland,” he said, expressing profound appreciation for the affection and support extended to him by the leadership, institutions, diplomatic colleagues, and the Kuwaiti people.

Ambassador Zubaydov paid special tribute to Kuwait’s leadership, extending his deepest gratitude to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah for their support and commitment to fostering strong and enduring relations between Kuwait and Tajikistan.

He also expressed appreciation to Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, as well as officials across state institutions whose cooperation and goodwill contributed significantly to the success of his diplomatic mission.

In one of the most touching moments of his address, Ambassador Zubaydov reminded attendees that diplomatic assignments may come to an end, but genuine human connections endure beyond official titles.

“The conclusion of a diplomatic mission does not mean the end of sincere relationships or heartfelt emotions,” he said. “I leave Kuwait carrying with me the most beautiful memories, the most genuine friendships, and the deepest appreciation for this generous nation and its noble people.”

The farewell ceremony also marked an important transition within the diplomatic community in Kuwait.

Consultations chaired by Assistant Foreign Minister for Protocol Affairs Abdulmohsen Jaber Al-Zaid, with the participation of several ambassadors including representatives from Palestine, Comoros, Yemen, and Nicaragua were held to determine the next Dean of the Diplomatic Corps.

Although the Ambassador of Palestine was initially selected by consensus, he later respectfully declined due to special circumstances.

Following renewed discussions, the diplomatic corps unanimously agreed to appoint His Highness Prince Sultan bin Saad Al Saud, Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Kuwait, as the new Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, recognizing his diplomatic stature, extensive experience, and the widespread esteem he commands among fellow envoys.

Ambassador Zubaydov warmly congratulated Prince Sultan on his appointment, offering sincere wishes for continued success, wisdom, and good health in his new role.

Concluding his address on a deeply emotional note, the outgoing Ambassador offered prayers for Kuwait’s continued peace, stability, and prosperity.

He expressed hope that the nation, its leadership, and its people would continue to flourish, while also extending his best wishes to his diplomatic colleagues as they continue their own missions of service and international cooperation.

As the evening drew to a close, guests paid tribute to Ambassador Zubaydov’s distinguished service, honoring not only his diplomatic achievements but also the warmth, dignity, and humanity that defined his thirteen-year journey in Kuwait.

For many in attendance, it was not simply a farewell to an ambassador but a heartfelt goodbye to a respected friend of Kuwait.
