“Public Works Minister” calls for urgent execution of ‘New Airport Project T2’
The Minister of Public Works, Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing the new airport project (T2) on schedule. She emphasized the dedication to utilizing all available resources and providing necessary facilities to ensure successful operation of all services and infrastructure associated with the project.
This statement was made in a press release issued by the Ministry of Public Works following a meeting chaired by Minister Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan to review the latest developments and expedite the progress of the new airport project (T2).
The meeting, aimed at advancing the implementation and executive stages of the project, was attended by the head of the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, H. E. Sheikh Hamoud Al-Sabah, and representatives from the Ministry of Interior.
Al-Mashaan stated that the purpose of the meeting was to review the progress of the new airport project, identify any challenges it faces, and work to overcome them. She highlighted that the new airport is one of the ambitious national projects aimed at developing and modernizing the country’s infrastructure, aligning with the vision of “New Kuwait 2035”.
Importantly, Al-Mashaan emphasized the need for swift completion of all work to the required quality and efficiency, adhering to the approved technical specifications and schedule. She stressed the importance of close coordination with Civil Aviation in ensuring successful execution.
Al-Mashaan added that the new airport will play a crucial role in transforming Kuwait into a regional and international financial and commercial hub, attracting investment.
Similarly, Al-Mashaan emphasized the government’s strong commitment to developing the infrastructure of the air transport sector in the country, adopting the best international standards in the civil aviation industry.
Among the key elements of Package 3, which complement Packages 1 and 2, are the “food equipment building, the technical support and support center, including a security point for personnel and cargo, a waste disposal area, service tunnels at the air terminal, and corridors and aircraft parking”.
Furthermore, the project contractor has undertaken earthwork for excavations in both the food equipment building and the tunnels according to the contract’s requirements. Obstacles in the project have been addressed in cooperation with the relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Electricity and Water, and other concerned entities.
The Ministry stated that the materials used, equipment, and specialized companies provided by the contractor are being approved in coordination with the contract consultant, the supervisory body within the Ministry, and relevant government agencies.
