PIFSS resumes suspended shares under new citizenship-related decision

The Public Institution for Social Security (PIFSS) has issued Resolution No. 6 of 2026 allowing the continued disbursement of shares that were suspended following the withdrawal of Kuwaiti citizenship from insured persons or deceased pensioners, subject to the controls set out in the decision.

Published in the Official Gazette Kuwait Alyawm (today) on Sunday, the decision provides for payments to beneficiaries to continue from the date on which the shares were suspended, provided the name of the deceased concerned is included in the lists prepared by the Supreme Committee for the Investigation of Kuwaiti Citizenship.

The beneficiaries will remain subject to the provisions of the Social Insurance Law, except for Articles 73 and 75. The decision also excludes payment of the marriage grant under Article 71 to an eligible daughter, sister or granddaughter whose share was suspended because of marriage.

The decision further stipulates that the annual increase provided for under Law No. 25 of 2001 will not apply to shares resumed under the new provisions. PIFSS has been tasked with implementing the decision, which will take effect one month after its publication in the Official Gazette.
