- Al-Razi Hospital has introduced an advanced recovery pathway that reduces pain, speeds rehabilitation, and allows eligible knee replacement patients to regain mobility within hours of surgery.
Kuwait’s Ministry of Health has announced the successful implementation of a rapid recovery protocol for knee replacement surgeries at Al-Razi Hospital, marking one of the first applications of the advanced treatment approach in the country.
The ministry said the new protocol was introduced by the hospital’s orthopedic surgery team as part of ongoing efforts to adopt internationally recognized medical practices and improve patient outcomes.
Dr. Hamad Al-Enezi, an orthopedic and joint replacement specialist at Al-Razi Hospital, said the protocol follows a comprehensive treatment pathway that begins before surgery and continues throughout the operation and post-operative recovery.
He explained that the integrated approach is designed to reduce pain, minimize complications, and accelerate rehabilitation, enabling patients to regain mobility much sooner than under conventional recovery methods.
According to Dr. Al-Enezi, patients undergoing knee replacement surgery under the new protocol are able to stand and walk within a few hours of the procedure and, following medical evaluation, may be discharged on the same day if they meet established safety and quality standards.
He said the initiative reflects Kuwait’s commitment to keeping pace with the latest global developments in orthopedic care while enhancing the quality and efficiency of healthcare services.
Dr. Al-Enezi also credited the achievement to the continued support of Kuwait’s leadership, noting that sustained investment in modern medical technologies and advanced treatment methods has strengthened the country’s healthcare system and improved services for both citizens and residents.
