Turki Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA), announced that requests to join the upcoming “On His Footsteps” experience have surpassed one million, ahead of its official launch scheduled for November.
The immersive experience traces the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) historic migration from Makkah to Medina using advanced technologies and interactive storytelling, reports Al-Rai daily.
Al-Sheikh confirmed the overwhelming interest through his official X account, stating that the number of requests had reached one million. He expressed gratitude to His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for his unwavering support for the Hijrah Road Project.
He described the Crown Prince as an “inspiring leader” and pledged to exert every effort to ensure the success of the initiative.
Appreciation was also extended to Prince Salman bin Sultan, Governor of Madinah, and Prince Saud bin Mishaal, Deputy Governor of Makkah, for their continuous support and close follow-up on the project’s progress.
Al-Sheikh emphasized that the project has gained significant momentum internationally, particularly in Indonesia, where promotional clips have attracted widespread attention.
He noted that similar interactive experiences will soon be introduced in Malaysia, Turkey, and India as part of the project’s global expansion.
The 2025 plan includes receiving 300,000 visitors under a highly organized framework focused on quality, safety, and comfort. By 2030, the project aims to reach five million visitors annually.
To facilitate travel along the migration route, specially designed four-wheel-drive buses will be deployed to navigate the challenging terrain.
These vehicles will reduce travel time to key locations such as the Cave of Thor to just three minutes—compared to the previous two-hour journey on foot—enhancing accessibility and visitor satisfaction.
The “On His Footsteps” initiative is considered one of the GEA’s most significant cultural and historical experiences. It brings the Hijrah to life through an innovative combination of real-world exploration and virtual interaction, allowing visitors to deeply engage with the spiritual and historical aspects of the Prophet’s journey.
Designed to both educate and inspire, the project seeks to strengthen understanding of the Hijrah’s profound significance in Islamic history. It offers a pioneering model that merges educational content with cutting-edge technology, targeting audiences from Saudi Arabia and abroad.
