One year on, CSC reviews flexible fingerprint attendance system

As the first anniversary of Kuwait’s flexible fingerprint attendance system approaches in August, and with six months of employee tardiness tracking underway, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) is adopting a continuous monitoring strategy. This includes evaluating the actual implementation of the system and ensuring full compliance across government institutions.
The CSC is reviewing the technical readiness and infrastructure of all agencies, identifying technical and administrative obstacles, and analyzing feedback from ministries to resolve issues — especially for employees present at work but not properly recorded by the system, reports Al-Anba daily.
A report is being prepared to assess whether the system has met its objectives, including improving job discipline, maintaining workflow flexibility, and promoting fairness and transparency.
The CSC stresses the importance of training, awareness workshops, and future integration of the system with digital transformation and AI in government HR management.
It also urged government agencies to complete technical system integration, install sufficient fingerprint devices and display a timetable showing valid fingerprint hours, post the schedule near devices to inform employees and protect their rights, use mobile apps in locations with limited device access and coordinate with the CSC to accommodate employees with special needs without disrupting workflow.
The fingerprint system was officially launched in August 2024.
