Number of vehicles on Kuwait road rises to 2.6 million by end of 2024
Overall, 92,976 new driving licenses were issued during the year, including 83,085 special licenses, 6,286 general licenses, 2,931 motorcycle licenses, and 674 construction vehicle licenses.

Official figures released by the Central Statistical Bureau revealed that the total number of cars and motorcycles operating in Kuwait reached 2.609 million by the end of 2024, marking an increase of 86,388 vehicles compared to 2.522 million in 2023.
According to the data, private cars continue to dominate Kuwait’s roads, representing 80.65% of all registered vehicles. Their number climbed to 2.104 million in 2024, up by 75,848 from the previous year’s 2.028 million. Meanwhile, private motorcycles totaled 49,591, compared to 47,623 in 2023—an increase of 1,968 motorcycles over 12 months.
The statistics also highlighted the presence of 535 licensed taxis, 4,938 on-demand taxis, 9,342 roaming taxis, 322,131 private transport vehicles, and 38,293 public transport vehicles by the end of 2024, reports Al-Anba daily.
In a related context, the data showed that 114,623 applicants took the theoretical driving test across all governorates during 2024, with 100,050 passing and 14,573 failing. For the practical driving test, 144,457 applicants were examined, of whom 93,312 passed and 51,145 failed.
