Yarmouk considered one of the most important and beautiful areas in the country known for its good organization, clean streets, and the splendid design of its public and private buildings, has now fallen to ruin, Al Qabas reports.

The sight of abandoned cars in some squares and in front of the Association’s branch in Plot 3 and near the vicinity of a number of mosques and other important buildings has raised discontent among people, who demanded the concerned authorities take action to remove these abandoned cars that collect dust, which distort the landscape and may cause problems.

The resident of Yarmouk area unanimously agreed to Al-Qabas that the neglected vehicles in the dirt squares and residential areas, and the parking lots of some branches of cooperative societies and other places, create unhealthy conditions including encouraging robbery, and other criminal activities.

Security sources warned of the danger of this “old and new” phenomenon, calling for “immediate and decisive action by the concerned authorities to remove any vehicles abandoned by their owners intentionally,” and transporting them to the municipality and ministry of interior garages.

The competent security authorities have also pointed out that many drug dealers and drug addicts look to these vehicles to complete their criminal operations.

The vast majority of these vehicles remain for months in their location, so the cars can be used for many unethical practices, and criminal acts. The danger is not limited to distorting the scenery only, but also a security risk as the license plates of these cars are taken to commit crimes.

The daily said, quoting sources, that the Kuwait municipality authorities have not acted to reduce this phenomenon, with neglected cars accumulating usually in service centers such as cooperative societies and public car parks on a daily basis. This phenomenon is allowed to exist for many reasons, including the slow mechanism for which government agencies deal with it, for it goes through many stages before the cars are seized and removed with the assistance of the municipality.
