The Women’s Institute for Development and Peace organized its sixth festival entitled “Kuwait Peace” under the slogan “Together we protect the homeland” yesterday, at the Mishref Cooperative Society, in cooperation with the Kuwaiti Lawyers Association.

The president of the Institute, Lawyer Kawthar Al-Joaan, said, in a press statement, that the festival kicked off this year with its sixth edition. The first edition was inaugurated in 2018 in conjunction with honoring the late Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad as a man of peace for the League of Arab States, hence the slogan for the festival was selected as. “Kuwait Peace”, which coincides with Kuwait’s celebrations of national holidays, and the Hala February every year.

Al-Jawaan added that the festival started with a popular march that began from the schoolyard of Mishaan Al-Khudair School in Mishref, with the participation of school children, a police band, and old classic cars. Our joy for the Liberation and Independence days, was also celebrated by presenting a popular poem from the Kingdom of Bahrain, and another from the Sultanate of Oman, as well as a poem composed by the Bahraini poet Abdul Rahman Al-Mudhahka for his love of Kuwait.

She further pointed out that the march, which started in the morning, reached Al-Salam Square in the Mishref Society after about an hour, turning the association’s halls into a beautiful meaning of love, loyalty, celebration, and joy. The activities of the ceremony also included musical performances and a wonderful performance by the police music band.

The festival also included an exhibition that was held at the side which was organized by the participation from several governmental, civil, and voluntary bodies, all of whom came together for the love of Kuwait. The festival will be held for the first time over two days, due to the inclusion of several beautiful activities that guarantee everyone’s participation to enjoy the celebration of our homeland.

In the evening, the march concluded with a festive atmosphere that included patriotic gifts for children, music, performances, and many other entertainment activities that raised the awareness of the importance and love for Kuwait.

Lastly, she affirmed her pride and happiness for the march that took place with the participation of jurists, is the first of its kind to be permitted to a professional association which reflects the great amount of liberation that Kuwait enjoys today.
