Philippines government has announced the decision to lift the deployment ban. The decision was made after the two governments reached an agreement regarding the working conditions of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Kuwait through a ‘standard contract’ signed by the two sides.

A clause in the said agreement prohibits the Philippines embassy in Kuwait from harboring Filipino domestic helpers who seek asylum at the embassy. Instead, the embassy will now have to report all workers who seek asylum at the embassy to the domestic workers’ employment department at the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM).

Domestic Household workers (DSWs) can either seek help from PAM or can call the Department of Domestic Employment on the number 25389452.

They may also lodge a complaint with the local Police station if and when there is a violation of their employment contract. As per the Kuwaiti laws, domestic workers’ rights are specified regarding subjects like finances, assaults, and accommodation. The Domestic employment Department and local police stations are bound to act on any violation complaints.
