The head of the Kuwaiti Federation of Fishermen, Dhaher Al-Suwayyan, affirmed that the board of directors of the federation welcomes every young Kuwaiti or retiree who has the ability to enter the sea and practice the artisanal fishing process.

He pointed out that the fishing trip ranges between 5 and 7 continuous days in the sea, adding, “The citizen who has the ability to practice the fishing process is most welcome, reports Al-Jarida daily.

There are fishing licenses, he said, and there are a number of fishing licenses that need labor, because they have a great shortage, and therefore they cannot make use of the fishing license.

Al-Soyyan added, in today’s statement, that the federation presented this in more than one statement, but no one came forward, hoping that a number of citizens wishing to practice the fishing profession would apply to the federation.

He pointed out that the federation will send a list of names to the concerned authority in order to obtain a fishing identity issued by it, provided that the fishing process is practiced during the entire shrimp fishing season for a period of 5 consecutive months, starting in August.

He explained that the fishing profession does not have a monthly salary, but rather shares of the catch after a period of work, and after paying operating expenses and costs, maintenance work and the purchase of fishing equipment in each new season.
