The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has officially stated that the fraudulent activities experienced by certain citizens and residents did not originate from the ministry’s official website or its social media pages. These platforms have been designed to prevent scams and deceitful practices, including the implementation of measures to block such malicious websites.

The ministry has strongly advised both citizens and residents to exercise prudence and carefulness when engaging in online transactions, urging them to verify the authenticity of the ministry’s official electronic address before proceeding, reports Al-Rai daily.

This announcement from the ministry has been issued in response to instances of fraud reported by several citizens and residents under the category ‘submission of complaints and reports’.

The ministry had earlier emphasized that it never solicits any banking information such as OTP codes or passwords. The ministry has cautioned against interacting with any website that requests financial data.
