As usual, every year in February, on the occasion of valentine’s day, many flower and gift retailers receive large numbers of customers. And due to this reason, all the gift shops in Kuwait have prepared the latest designs in gifts and bouquets of roses, which are predominantly red.
Flower shop workers say that one of the most important varieties of roses sold today are red roses, which are imported from countries like Egypt, India, and the Netherlands, and that the volume of sales for this type of roses reach about 2,500 roses per store, noting that 90% of sales are for bouquets. Roses are customized with different gifts and chocolates by the stores.
Preparations for this day are not limited to buying flowers and gifts, but restaurants, hotels and cafes play an important part in the celebrations as they compete with each other to attract customers and provide new dishes at competitive prices. Valentine’s day special dinners for a couple reach up to 70 dinars and 150 dinars at hotels, with overnight accommodation.
Many customers also resort to ordering flowers and gifts “online”, as they do not have time to go to the shops and search for the best. It’s also important to note that the cost of roses rises according to the shop, its location, and available designs. Sources indicate that online flower orders during this day represent 70% of the total volume. Prices of bouquets starts at 5 dinars and go upto140 dinars in Kuwait.
