In a bid to accelerate the development of tourism, Uzbekistan has introduced several new measures to facilitate the travel of foreigners to the country. In addition to citizens from 76 being eligible to obtain an electronic visa from 1, February 2019, the government has also introduced different types of visas for foreigners. The different visa categories are as follows with their validity period given in brackets.

Vatandosh visa (2 years): For natives of Uzbekistan who live abroad. The only condition for obtaining this visa is that their relatives who are citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan and living in the republic should send a special offer for them to visit the country.

Student visa (1 year): For students coming to study at educational institutions of Uzbekistan. It should be registered at the request of ministries, departments and organizations of the Republic.

Academic visa (3 months to 2 years): For those wishing to pursue research and pedagogical activity in Uzbekistan. It is granted at the request of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, scientific-research organizations and universities.

Medical visa (Up to 3 months): For those who come for treatment in Uzbekistan.

Pilgrim visa (Up to 2 months): For those who want to study the cultural historical and religious-spiritual heritage and traditions of Uzbekistan. It is granted at the request of touristic organizations and Committee on Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers.
