Senior advisor to US President Donald Trump and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, confirmed that there is no US pressure on Kuwait and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to establish relations with Israel, stressing his country’s desire to create more economic opportunities and move the region forward.

The Senior Advisor to US President Donald Trump, Jared Kushner in what he described as the historic agreement between the United Arab Emirates and Israel under American auspices, explained that the establishment of diplomatic relations between the United Arab Emirates and Israel is the first peace agreement of its kind in the region in the past 26 years. He pointed out that this agreement brought optimism to the possibility of achieving peace for many from the peoples in the region, appreciating the role of the US President Donald Trump’s administration in reaching this agreement, which pushes the development of the peace process in the Middle East, which is experiencing much unrest in a number of its regions such as Syria and Iraq, in addition to the threats made by ISIS.

Kushner pointed out during a press conference by phone with representatives of a number of international and local media regarding the peace agreement between the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait that Kuwait’s position in support of the Palestinians is not constructive.

“We do not want the Middle East to be frozen in the struggle of the past and to push for more progress in the Middle East,” Kushner said in a press briefing.

He added, “We do not exercise pressure, and countries do what they see in their interest, and there is a very hard-line vision on the part of the Palestinians now, and what we see in the region is in the interest of many countries from an economic point of view.”

He continued, “There should be mutual trust with the United States of America so that we can help, and the Palestinian people will realize that their lives will be better if there is an end to this conflict.”

He continued: “We realize that there are economic and investment opportunities that will be available, and I imagine that many of the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council are aware of this, and we do not exercise pressure because the relations that are established under pressure do not continue, and what happened is that the leaders of the two countries ‘the Emirates and Israel’ realized that there are threats in common, there are greater opportunities for normalization.

In response to a question about the impact of the recent agreement on Iran’s position in the region, Kushner said that Israel has been a scapegoat for a long time and that people have realized this, stressing the need for Iran to take a decision to stop its attempts to export terrorism and to focus on the future.

He continued, “Therefore, it is very important for all countries in the region to normalize their relations with Israel now, because terrorist groups will continue, and as many countries join, the matter will become more difficult for Iran, and if this difficulty continues, it will be better for its trade and investments, and it will improve the lives of Palestinians.”

He concluded his speech addressing his question to the countries that reject what is happening in the region, saying, “What are the peace plans from your point of view, because this region will not become great until the issue is resolved, and we need to make the region agreeable with each other.”
